Aerosmith, formed in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1970, is one of the most enduring and successful rock bands in music history. The original lineup consisted of Steven Tyler (vocals), Joe Perry (guitar), Tom Hamilton (bass), Joey Kramer (drums), and Ray Tabano (guitar), who was soon replaced by Brad Whitford. Known as “The Bad Boys from Boston,” Aerosmith built a reputation for electrifying live performances, bluesy hard rock, and a string of chart-topping albums.
The band’s discography includes 15 studio albums, starting with their self-titled debut Aerosmith (1973), which introduced classics like “Dream On.” They reached commercial zeniths with Toys in the Attic (1975) and Rocks (1976). After overcoming struggles with substance abuse and lineup changes, Aerosmith roared back with Permanent Vacation (1987), Pump (1989), and Get a Grip (1993), cementing their status as rock legends. Albums like Nine Lives (1997) and Just Push Play (2001) continued their legacy, while Honkin’ on Bobo (2004) showcased their blues roots.
The band has won four Grammy Awards, 10 MTV Video Music Awards, and been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. With over 150 million records sold worldwide, Aerosmith remains one of the best-selling bands in history.
