Arctic Monkeys, one of the most influential rock bands of the 21st century, were formed in Sheffield, England, in 2002. The band’s lineup consists of Alex Turner (lead vocals, guitar), Jamie Cook (guitar), Nick O’Malley (bass), and Matt Helders (drums). Former bassist Andy Nicholson was part of the band during their early years. Known for their witty lyrics and diverse musical styles, the band quickly rose to fame with their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not (2006), which became the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history.
The band has released seven studio albums, showcasing their evolution from post-punk and indie rock to more experimental styles like psychedelic pop and lounge rock. They have received numerous awards, including Brit Awards, Mercury Prize nominations, and Grammy nods. Their chart-topping singles, including “I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor,” “Do I Wanna Know?” and “505,” have cemented their legacy as modern rock icons.
