LEAVES’ EYES Release Orchestral Version Of “Forged By Fire”

LEAVES' EYES Release Orchestral Version Of

Symphonic metal vikings Leaves’ Eyes released their new studio album, Myths Of Fate, in March 2024 via AFM Records. They have revisited the record with an epic orchestral version of “Forged By Fire”. It is available via all digital platforms.

With Myths Of Fate, the band set sails for new winds that definitely blow from the harsh shallows of the symphonic metal genre. The fantastic world of legends from Norse and Eastern European mythology is the setting for monumental entertainment: Leaves’ Eyes open up a world of magical places, spellbound weapons or supernatural creatures.

Leaves’ Eyes have always played in a league of their own. The international group has toured all populated continents, playing concerts in more than 50 countries, frequently reach top positions in the album charts and with every output they deliver a multimedia masterpiece when it comes to video clips and artwork.

In their multifaceted discography, Leaves’ Eyes naturally integrate various genres such as folk metal, Viking metal or symphonic metal into their unique sound creations. Legendary releases like Vinland Saga (2005) or Njord (2009) made them pioneers in their own league, a position they successfully confirmed with chart-breakers like King Of Kings (2015) or Sign Of The Dragonhead (2018). Their compositions are complex, though, always well balanced between heaviness and melodic atmosphere. Each of their mind-broadening lyrical concepts based on mediaeval mythology are thoroughly researched, offering their audience journeys to the past times of Vikings, myths and sagas.

Their live shows are spectacular events with breathtaking stage scenery, including a Viking ship or even the “Swords In Rock” monument from Norway. Leaves’ Eyes have been setting world history to music and undeniably, by doing so, have raced to the top of the symphonic metal tree.

Now, Alexander Krull once again exceeded his own standards in the producer’s chair. For the fine and complex compositions you will find on Myths Of Fate, he created an extraordinary and crystal-clear sound sphere with an undeniable live feeling. The band sounds raw and feisty, but still leaves space for affective atmospheres. The US soundtrack-multi-talent Jonah Weingarten contributes the impressive orchestral score that was created hand in hand with the metal arrangements. Moreover, Lea-Sophie Fischer (Eluveitie) on the fiddle and Thomas Roth’s play of the mediaeval Nyckelharpa add on mystical sounds to Myths Of Fate.

Leaves’ Eyes have created an entire universe of their own imagination that showcases their talent as storytellers and music perfectionists. No doubt, the band will leave an everlasting footprint in their own genre with this album. Myths Of Fate provides a dynamic soundtrack for a vivid escape into a magical world of mythology. Four years after bringing The Last Viking to Valhalla with their previous opus, Leaves’ Eyes resurrect with Myths Of Fate to celebrate their 20th year of existence. As the first single releases prove, with their ninth studio album, the band consolidates their leading position in the symphonic metal universe. Powerful, epic and impressive – Leaves’ Eyes once again merge traditional metal genres by fusing elements of folk, gothic, and classical music into a captivating sonic masterpiece.

LIFESICK Drops “Peace Through Superior Firepower” Video

Danish death metal/metallic hardcore outfit Lifesick is pleased to kick off the year with a new video for “Peace Through Superior Firepower.” The track comes by way of the band’s critically lauded Loved By None, Hated By All full-length, released last Fall on Metal Blade Records.

LIfesick manifests brutal and brutally honest songs with lyrics inspired by the turbulent nature of life. Musically influenced by Swedish death metal, the band’s authentic and explosive mixture of crushing tones and modern breakdowns create an uncompromising sound and vision.

Comments the band on “Peace Through Superior Firepower,” “The idea of trying to spread peace around the world with bombs and guns is one of the most bizarre aspects of the human race. Some of us are raised with love, and a subtle hint of hate for others. This song features heavy and catchy guitar riffs, with plenty of sing-along vocal parts. The track includes layers of samples and pitched-down guitar, giving the breakdown a distinct feel compared to the rest of the songs on the album. ‘Only the dead see the end of war-a haunting anthem of vengeance.'”

Lifesick will take on a short run of European live dates this April with support from special guests Tchert.

AVERSED – “Lucid Decapitation” Single, Music Video Released

AVERSED – “Lucid Decapitation” Single, Music Video Released

Massachusetts’s Aversed share more new music from their forthcoming album. Today, the group’s new digital single and music video “Lucid Decapitation” makes its way online, showcasing their intense, progressive, and blistering performance.

“In 1905, French physician Dr. Jacques Beaurieux performed an experiment on prisoners condemned to die by guillotine. Immediately after his subjects were decapitated, he called out their names seeking to determine to what extent and for how long consciousness remained in their detached skulls,” explains drummer Jeff Saltzman. “In ‘Lucid Decapitation,’ we explore the horrifying prospect of being subjected to such a test, and our world’s hunger for knowledge, regardless of the cost. What does it feel like to be a head, detached from your body? Can science ever be justified in performing such grisly experiments?”

Interesting themes for an interesting album that takes extreme, gothic and melodic death metal inspirations and builds them to create something uniquely Aversed. “Lucid Decapitation” follows up “Cross To Bear”, which weaved wondrous awe with righteous anger and left fans anxious for more new music.

Packaged with intriguing artwork from Adam Burke (Unto Others, Gatecreeper, Cloak) of Nightjar Illustration, and self-produced by guitarists Alden Marchand and Sungwoo Jeong with orchestrations composed/arranged by Vikram Shankar (Redemption, Silent Skies, Pain Of Salvation), the album is mixed by AJ Viana (Wormhole, Hath, Cognitive) and mastered by Brad Boatright (Code Orange, Obituary, 200 Stab Wounds) at Audiosiege.

Erasure Of Color will be in stores and online March 21, 2025 and preorders are now available on CD, limited-edition (300) smoke colored vinyl and exclusive limited (100) cassette at this location.

LORRAINE LEWIS To Return In 2025 With New FEMME FATALE Lineup Plus New Music With FOREIGNER Legend LOU GRAMM; Singer Enters OnlyFans Arena

LORRAINE LEWIS To Return In 2025 With New FEMME FATALE Lineup Plus New Music With FOREIGNER Legend LOU GRAMM; Singer Enters OnlyFans Arena

With her powerful, gutsy voice, Lorraine Lewis cemented her place in the rock world as lead vocalist for the band Femme Fatale with their 1988 self-titled MCA album. It produced two big rock singles and MTV videos. “Waiting For The Big One” and “Falling In And Out of Love.” Watch Lorraine’s sizzle reel below.

Coming off a nearly six-year run as the fiery lead vocalist of Vixen, whom she was invited to join in 2019, the singer, songwriter, and sexy no-holds-barred performer is now doubling down on her legacy with a new Femme Fatale lineup. “Femme Fatale is what most people know me for,” says Lorraine. “I like being the only girl in the room, and I’m determined to keep my rock legacy alive. I’ve been working with a renowned songwriter/producer for a Femme Fatale release. I’m lining up my band and hoping to have something out this year. We have a plan and are looking for the right fit with a label. I want to be around people who ‘get me’ and I’ll never stop doing what I love. Rock and Roll never dies.”

Notably, Lorraine has also been recording with Lou Gramm, the original Foreigner lead singer and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer. They have recorded an interpretation of David Bowie’s “Heroes” for release this June (exact date TBA). “While the classic song has been covered by many others, it has never been recorded as a duet with a male and female voice,” says Lorraine. “When Lou sings the line, ‘I will be king and you will be queen’, I melt.”

“Lou is vocally brilliant,” she adds. “There were moments I could hardly believe I was in the studio with him. The voice I have loved since I sang in bar bands in my hometown of Albuquerque, New Mexico. I mean, ‘Hot Blooded,’ ‘Cold As Ice,’ and ‘Midnight Blue.’ His voice and chops are like no one I’ve ever worked with.”

In addition to her musical projects, “I’m excited to have jumped into the OnlyFans arena!” says Lorraine. “I’ve always been unpredictable, and I know guys and girls have had my photo or poster on their wall since my hot videos back in the day. It’s time to go for it, have some fun and show off my wild side! I mean one of my singles is called ‘Waiting For The Big One.’ It just makes sense. I recently saw a clip of Cher saying she wished she would have been ‘badder’ which made me think, ‘Hell yes, I’m joining OnlyFans.’ I’ve wanted to for the longest time. Have you ever wondered what it’s like for me to be your girlfriend? Well here’s your chance. I’m following in the footsteps of Cardi B., Carmen Electra, Drea De Matteo, and more!”

Connect with Lorraine here.

“So many people put down social media,” she adds,” but I love it. It’s a way to connect with my tribe on a more personal level. I love being belly to belly with the fans & friends of mine.”

Lorraine explains how her presence on social media led to working with Gramm. “I do a live ‘Q and A’ every Sunday at 5pm Pacific (8pm Eastern) where I let my tribe ask me anything. A question I get often is: ‘Who would you want to record with?’ My answer is always the same: #1 Lou Gramm, #2 Paul Rodgers, and #3 David Lee Roth.”

“One Monday back in April,” she recalls, “I got a message from his team on Instagram asking what songs I would want to do with Lou! I was stunned. Is this for real? They asked for my phone number and could I take a call with Lou on a Friday at 1:30pm Pacific. Of course I said yes, not really sure this was legit. But Friday at 1:30pm Pacific, I got a call and it was Mr. Gramm himself!! He told me to call him Lou. We started emailing and talking once a week to decide on songs we wanted to record together. It took several months, but we decided on some songs, recorded our vocals in May on our first track.”

Lorraine is all lit up for 2025 and beyond. “I’m an entertainer. Before Femme Fatale, I was always a singer and performer who wanted to push beyond the limits,” she says. “That will never change, and I’m more fearless than ever. I’ve recently done stand up and I’m open to having a podcast. I’m still creating reality TV, have plans to produce a docu series, and want to do a remake of a movie. I’m an open book but still have secrets for my exciting future. I’m here to have fun, and live life to the fullest!! Let’s F-ing GO!!”

The guitar on the cover of Jeff Beck’s Blow By Blow album has just sold for over a million pounds

The guitar that appeared on the cover of Jeff Beck‘s classic Blow By Blow album cover has sold for over a million pounds at auction. The guitar, a 1954 Oxblood Les Paul, was estimated to sell for £350,000 – £500,000, but the hammer eventually fell with the price at £ 1,068,500 ($1,315,109).

The sale was the highlight of a 128-lot auction that lasted almost seven hours, raised more than £8 million, and set three world records. In addition to the price obtained for the Les Paul, a 1983 Jackson guitar signed by Tina Turner sold for £441,000, and the pedal board used on Beck’s final tour in 2022 fetched £126,000. All the money raised by the auction will be donated to Folly Wildlife Rescue, whose patrons include Beck’s widow Sandra and Johnny Depp.

“I am so happy that Jeff’s guitars have been so popular amongst his fans and friends,” says Sandra Beck. “Thank you so much for your belief in Jeff’s legacy.”

“We are thrilled with the results of Jeff Beck’s incredible collection, which pay testament to the legacy of a genius – a globally-revered true rock legend,” says Amelia Walker, Christie’s Specialist Head of Private & Iconic Collections, London. “Passionate bidders competed for every lot in the sale, with each achieving many multiples of their pre-sale estimate.

“The power of Jeff’s live performances and the emotional connection between him and his fans is perfectly exemplified by the exceptional result for ‘Anoushka’ his main performance white Stratocaster, which sparked a nine-minute bidding battle, achieving £1,008,000 – 50 times the pre-sale low estimate. It has been an honour to have been entrusted with this collection.”

The full list of auction results is available on the Christies website.

Complete List Of Kings Of Leon Band Members

Kings Of Leon Band Members

A spark of musical camaraderie flickered in Nashville, Tennessee, in 1999, when Kings of Leon first came together. The lineup featured three brothers—Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill—alongside their cousin, Matthew Followill. They built their early reputation by touring extensively and earning a devoted following with their distinct approach to American rock. Over the years, they have released eight full-length studio albums, each reflecting their evolving style and demonstrating their consistent presence in the rock music scene.

Their debut album, Youth & Young Manhood, arrived in 2003, followed by Aha Shake Heartbreak (2004), Because of the Times (2007), Only by the Night (2008), Come Around Sundown (2010), Mechanical Bull (2013), WALLS (2016), and When You See Yourself (2021). Their music has garnered attention on the charts, particularly “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody,” which became worldwide hits. Kings of Leon have not experienced major lineup changes or high-profile breakups, which is notable for a band with such longevity and success.

Over the course of their career, Kings of Leon have received multiple awards, including Grammy accolades. Their consistent membership and varied discography have yielded a series of standout rock anthems that have seen success on both sides of the Atlantic. They maintain a solid reputation for energetic live performances and remain engaged with their fan base through touring and festival appearances.

Caleb Followill

Caleb Followill, born Anthony Caleb Followill, has served as Kings of Leon’s lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist since 1999. As one of the founding members, he has been featured on every album, beginning with Youth & Young Manhood in 2003. On that debut, Caleb’s raw vocal style contributed to the group’s initial recognition in the rock world. With subsequent records like Aha Shake Heartbreak and Because of the Times, Caleb’s voice became increasingly central to the band’s evolving sound, helping them gain traction internationally.

On Only by the Night, Caleb’s vocals anchored the successful tracks “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody,” both of which garnered the band critical accolades and helped earn them multiple awards. Outside of the band, Caleb has occasionally collaborated with other artists on songwriting projects and has been featured in various charitable efforts, particularly those related to music education and disaster relief. He remains the band’s main songwriter and continues to shape Kings of Leon’s musical direction through his lyrics and vocals.

Nathan Followill

Nathan Followill, the band’s drummer and percussionist, also joined in 1999 and has contributed backing vocals on all Kings of Leon albums. His drumming style was introduced on Youth & Young Manhood, providing a rhythmic foundation that propelled songs like “Red Morning Light.” Throughout albums such as Aha Shake Heartbreak and Because of the Times, Nathan refined his technique, blending alternative rock beats with elements of Southern-inflected grooves.

On Only by the Night, his percussion work fortified hits like “Use Somebody,” helping the song achieve radio success worldwide. Nathan’s notable outside pursuits include session drumming on select collaborations and his involvement in philanthropic events, particularly ones that support arts and music education. His commitment to dynamic percussion remains one of the band’s defining traits, giving their tracks a recognizable drive and character.

Jared Followill

Jared Followill, who handles bass and occasional keyboards, also came on board in 1999. His bass lines on Youth & Young Manhood contributed a melodic flair that added depth to their debut tracks, and by Aha Shake Heartbreak, his playing became more pronounced, a development evident in the record’s tighter compositions. On Because of the Times, Jared incorporated subtle keyboard elements, further diversifying the band’s sound. By the release of Only by the Night, his inventive bass work on tracks like “Closer” helped shape the album’s moody tone, and his technique carried into the band’s later albums, including Mechanical Bull and WALLS. Away from Kings of Leon, Jared has occasionally worked on side projects and made guest appearances with other artists. His foundational bass playing remains integral to the band’s dynamic, bridging the gap between melodic guitar lines and driving percussion.

Matthew Followill

Matthew Followill, a cousin to the other three members, also joined Kings of Leon in 1999 and serves as the lead guitarist while sometimes contributing keyboards and backing vocals. His guitar riffs on Youth & Young Manhood established the raw, bluesy element that would become a signature for the band. Through releases like Aha Shake Heartbreak and Because of the Times, Matthew introduced a variety of guitar textures, expanding Kings of Leon’s sonic palette. His melodic leads played a pivotal role in the successes of “Sex on Fire” and “Use Somebody” on Only by the Night, as those riffs became instantly recognizable. He has occasionally contributed to other artists’ studio sessions, showcasing his skill as a guitarist. On Come Around Sundown, Mechanical Bull, WALLS, and When You See Yourself, Matthew remained a vital creative force, ensuring that lead guitar parts continued to complement Caleb’s vocals and evolve with each new recording.

Liam O’Neil

Liam O’Neil has served as a touring musician for Kings of Leon since 2015, playing keyboards, percussion, and providing backing vocals. He does not appear as an official studio member but supports live shows, broadening the band’s onstage sound and allowing them to recreate the layered arrangements heard on their albums.

Timothy Deaux

Timothy Deaux began touring with the band in 2016, adding rhythm guitar, percussion, and backing vocals. From 2021 to 2022, he also handled lead guitar duties as needed. Though not credited on studio recordings, Deaux bolstered the band’s performances by filling out multiple instrumental parts, ensuring continuity for audiences across various tours.

Christopher Coleman

Christopher Coleman was a touring musician from 2010 to 2014, contributing rhythm guitar, keyboards, trumpet, percussion, and backing vocals for live renditions of songs from Come Around Sundown and early Mechanical Bull performances. His role ensured the band’s sound matched the fuller production of the studio recordings during that period.

Ethan Luck

Ethan Luck toured with Kings of Leon between 2014 and 2016 as a rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, percussionist, and backing vocalist. He was part of the live support during the later Mechanical Bull era and left just prior to WALLS. Outside Kings of Leon, he is known for his involvement in various punk and rock projects, emphasizing his versatility as a touring and studio musician.

Complete List Of Whitney Houston Songs From A to Z

Complete List Of Whitney Houston Songs From A to Z

Feature Photo: PH2 Mark Kettenhofen, Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons

Whitney Houston’s rise from a gospel-singing teenager in Newark, New Jersey, to one of the most iconic voices in music history is nothing short of extraordinary. Born on August 9, 1963, Houston was immersed in music from a young age, thanks to her mother, gospel and soul singer Cissy Houston, and her cousin, Dionne Warwick. Her talents were recognized early, as she performed in church and honed her skills under the influence of some of the greatest voices in soul and gospel music. By the time she was a teenager, she was already modeling and performing as a backup vocalist for major acts, laying the groundwork for a monumental career.

Houston’s discovery came in the early 1980s when Clive Davis of Arista Records recognized her potential. Signed to the label in 1983, she released her self-titled debut album Whitney Houston in 1985. The album became an instant classic, featuring chart-topping singles like “Saving All My Love for You,” “How Will I Know,” and “Greatest Love of All.” It was a commercial juggernaut, selling over 25 million copies worldwide and earning Houston her first Grammy Award. Her blend of powerful vocal delivery and crossover appeal made her a sensation in pop and R&B music.

The success of her debut was only a precursor to an even greater triumph with her second album, Whitney (1987). It debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, making her the first female artist to achieve such a feat. Featuring hits like “I Wanna Dance with Somebody (Who Loves Me)” and “Didn’t We Almost Have It All,” the album cemented her status as a global superstar. Over her career, Houston released a total of seven studio albums, including I’m Your Baby Tonight (1990) and My Love Is Your Love (1998), showcasing her versatility across genres.

One of Houston’s most celebrated achievements was her role in the 1992 film The Bodyguard and its accompanying soundtrack. The soundtrack, featuring her cover of Dolly Parton’s “I Will Always Love You,” became the best-selling soundtrack of all time, with over 45 million copies sold globally. The song itself is one of the best-selling singles in history and earned Houston numerous accolades, including Record of the Year at the Grammy Awards. Other notable soundtracks included Waiting to Exhale (1995) and The Preacher’s Wife (1996), further establishing her dominance in both music and film.

Throughout her career, Houston accumulated an astonishing array of awards, including six Grammy Awards, two Emmy Awards, 22 American Music Awards, and 16 Billboard Music Awards, among others. She is also recognized as one of the best-selling music artists of all time, with over 200 million records sold worldwide. Houston’s impact extended beyond the charts; her vocal techniques and style influenced generations of singers, earning her the title “The Voice.”

Outside of music, Houston’s philanthropic efforts were equally remarkable. She established the Whitney Houston Foundation for Children, which worked to address issues such as homelessness, education, and healthcare for at-risk youth. Her performances at benefit concerts and her dedication to humanitarian causes further solidified her legacy as an artist who used her platform for good.

Houston’s life and career were not without struggles, but her resilience and contributions to music and culture are undeniable. Her unmatched talent, combined with her commitment to using her voice for social impact, make her one of the most beloved and influential figures in music history. Even after her untimely passing in 2012, Houston’s legacy continues to resonate with fans and artists worldwide, serving as a testament to her extraordinary gifts and enduring spirit.
